Offline UI

This document will explain how to use Formbird applications offline and allow users to use the app offline.

Enable Caching

  1. Login with offline enabled account
  2. Click on green man to display settings
  3. Click “Cache” option
  4. Click “Enable”
  5. The app will now navigate to the Caching page and begin caching (saving all data for offline)

Caching Progress Page

The caching progress indicator page displays the current progress.

Please do not leave this page until syncing is complete. You may leave once you see "Initial caching complete".

Offline menu & indicator

When caching starts an offline indicator appears in the header bar next to the search icon.

The icon has 4 states…

  1. Online & Synced
  2. Syncing ongoing (will flash)
  3. Offline enabled
  4. Device is offline

The menu can be displayed by clicking on this icon.

Note the “Offline” application will work with either “Offline enabled” or when the device is offline.

Offline menu

Go Offline button - toggles offline
Pending sync count - number of documents to sync from the server
Pending upload count - number of new documents to be uploaded
Static Resources - static files and resources for offline app
Data Cache - application documents, and templates cached for offline. eg. truck, site, New POD documents Map tiles - map tiles available offline
Attached files - number of images, videos and other attachments saved offline

Notes on offline usage

  • Changes will not sync up to the server whilst offline or offline enabled button is turned on
  • The Syncing ingoing icon will flash when syncing is underway - please be patient
  • The app is “Offline” when either of the following occur …
  • The internet cellular connection, or wifi is disconnected
  • The “Offline mode” is turned on via the “Go Offline” button
  • In marginal reception, it is recommended to use the “Offline button” to speed up the application and use local data
